State Basketball Champions Recognized by Mayor

The men’s and women’s varsity basketball teams were invited by Mayor Stephen Santellana to attend the City Council meeting today, April 5th, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. They were recognized for their State Championship wins. The players and coaches gladly accepted the invitation and were honored to be acknowledged for their accomplishments.

Winning both the men’s and women’s state championships in the same year is a huge accomplishment. And then, to be invited to Mayor Santellana’s office and recognized at the city level is a tremendous honor for our athletes, coaches, staff, and parents.
— Sara Lindemann, Christ Academy Athletic Director

Mayor Santellana presented each student-athlete with a certificate and a proclamation as an acknowledgment of achievement.

As a high school student-athlete, there is no greater pinnacle of success than winning a state championship. This year has been our greatest year to date, but without God’s blessings, the support from our staff, and the tireless hours our parents put in, we wouldn’t have been as successful. This one is for the books!
— Patrick Mitchell, Women’s Varsity Coach

Christ Academy’s two basketball teams each won State Championship titles this year in the TAPPS 1A division, a first in the school’s history. This year alone, the school has a State Championship title in women’s volleyball, team tennis, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball. The school’s men’s and women’s tennis teams are traveling to the State tennis tournament in Waco this week to compete for more titles.
