Meet the Coach | Jackie Wuthrich

Coach Wuthrich, more known as Coach Dub with her students, is a native Wichitian, an alumnus of Old High and Midwestern State University (MSU). Beyond being Christ Academy’s resident PE Specialist, she is the Junior High Head Volleyball Coach. She shared, "I am a wife and mom of two girls, and I love that job as much as I love coaching & teaching PE at Christ Academy."

During physical education, she makes sure to review the importance of physical activity and how and why moving your body is vital. "It is important to take care of your body to ensure it is strong enough to handle all of the physical demands of playing sports or anything life throws at them. When you find a team that is evenly matched in skill, the win or loss/ comes down to endurance and mental toughness built through strength and conditioning."

She was a defensive specialist that played volleyball for two years with MSU. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s in Sports and Fitness Management as well as a Masters in Sports and Exercise Physiology. For most of Coach Dub's career, she has been a part of strength and condition as the athletic performance coach for D1 and D2 colleges. She said, "I was in the weight room with all athletes at MSU, and at the University of Texas, I worked with the football, volleyball, rowing, and soccer teams. The commonality between athletes is weight training. Weight lifting helps make bones and muscles stronger and allows bodies to be powerful and resilient."

Coach Wuthrich's passion is coaching with a focus on strength and conditioning. It allows her to build relationships as well as teach life lessons on and off the court. She is hands-on and joins students as much as possible.
