Foreign Language at Christ Academy
EC3-Grade 5 Spanish Curriculum
All students in grade levels EC 3-5 will take Spanish with Mrs. Goodgion during the 2020-2021 school year. Students in these grades will attend two sessions per week. They will be learning in an instructor-to-students mode in the first session, and during the second session, students will practice vocabulary in Rosetta Stone.
"Several years ago, Christ Academy started to use Rosetta Stone for the school language acquisition. Last school year, we opened a Spanish academy to elementary students. It was well-received," said Tim Callaway, Christ Academy Principal.
The Christ Academy Administration is confident that Spanish is the best building block for our youngest learners, and it is a great option available to junior and senior high students.
Spanish is a relevant language to acquire as it is one of the most used around the world, especially in Texas. Furthermore, this addition to our existing program will help our early childhood and elementary students to become more likely to be native and fluent speakers.
Kristen Goodgion, Lower School Spanish Teacher, shared, "I am very excited to be back in the classroom and to assist students in learning Spanish. I have adapted the lessons to be developmentally appropriate for every grade level focusing on the students being comfortable with the pronunciation before moving to and practicing in the Rosetta Stone app."
At Christ Academy, our learning philosophy is to create 21st-century learners. This new Spanish program does just that. We pride ourselves in our ability to prepare students for future college experiences and the workforce because of our offerings.
