Dear Warrior Family,
In my welcome letter I shared with you exciting news about campus improvements and their benefits for our school and students. In this email I want to share with you exciting news about the promotion of one of our staff members that will also provide far reaching benefits for our school and students.
Creating a sense of unity benefits students, teachers, and families. When a school meets students' basic psychological needs, students become increasingly committed to the school's norms, values, and goals. And by enlisting students in maintaining that sense of community, the school provides opportunities for students to learn skills and develop habits that will benefit them throughout their lives.
A growing body of research confirms the benefits of building a sense of community in school. Students in schools with a strong sense of community are more likely to be academically motivated; to act ethically and altruistically; to develop social and emotional competencies; and to avoid several problem behaviors. School-wide community-building activities link students, parents, and teachers; help foster new school traditions; and promote helpfulness, inclusiveness, and responsibility.
Based on this research and school community feedback, Christ Academy has identified enriching and expanding a sense of community for our students, staff, and parents as a high priority. To help us fulfill that priority, it is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Kristen Goodgion as the school’s Director of Student Life. Kristen’s primary responsibility is to direct and coordinate all student related activities and functions to enhance the growth and development of all students by providing social, recreational, and leadership opportunities for all students at Christ Academy.
Kristen brings incredible expertise, energy, and commitment to this position. We are fortunate to have someone of this caliber on our staff. And I’m excited to see all that she will bring in helping Christ Academy continue to be a caring, safe, and engaging community.
Please congratulate Kristen on her new appointment when you see her, and let her know that you are available to help support her in this essential and highly beneficial endeavor.
