CA Celebrates Mrs. Thomas

Happy Retirement!

During the middle of our Christmas dress up week, we held a retirement party for Mrs. Sherry Thomas to wish her well as she steps into the next chapter of her life. Mrs. Thomas taught at Christ Academy for the past 10 years in various grades, spending the past several years in Grade 5. However, she’s been in education for a total of 40 years!

Christ Academy has been blessed to have Mrs. Thomas for all these years, so it’s been bittersweet news to share her decision to retire. Yesterday’s party was a sweet time of celebrating her, though, as staff, parents, students, and even former teachers stopped by to congratulate her.

Her daughter, Mrs. Duke, teaches Grade 2 here, and two of her grandchildren are students here as well. We know we’ll see her back at Christ Academy for programs and events to come! In this case, we’re not saying goodbye, we’re saying, “see you later!”

We are thankful for the many years Sherry Thomas has served at Christ Academy. She has impacted so many lives here, so we wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.
— Tyler Jacobus, head of school

What’s next for Grade 5? We are excited that our own Mrs. Goodgion (“Coach G.”) plans to move from Jr. High science and social studies to teach Grade 5 for the spring semester. Upper School teachers, Mrs. Ross and Mrs. Franks, will transition back to these subjects, which are areas they have both formerly taught in recent years. We are thankful for the way the Lord laid out this clear path and is making this transition so smooth!

Mrs. Thomas, thank you for all your many years of service. We are grateful for all you have done, and we hope you truly enjoy your next adventures to come!
