School Community Rallies to Open School
SCHOOL OPENS 8 DAYS AFTER FLOOD
Due to the rapid response of the Water Damage Committee, Service Master was able to secure their Water Damage Restore Team’s arrival within days of the flood that occurred at Christ Academy on February 16, 2021.
In the freezing weather, school board members, parents & staff were able to mobilize quickly. Together they were able to remove a significant amount of water from the school decreasing the overall damage and allowing Service Master to do their job.
We are thankful for the support we received from both Anthony Inman, a Christ Academy board member & parent, Stephen Santellana, a Christ Academy parent, and their crews, plus the fire fighters and volunteers that arrived on the scene. Without Mr. Inman’s crew, who worked all day and night between the flood and the school opening on February 25, the school would still not be open.
The school suffered hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage. While the school is open, it is not finished and will not be finished until this summer. Because construction is a slow process and the fact that we cannot expose our students to individuals outside of their pre-define Covid cohorts, the building’s finishes (paint, texture, floors & furniture) will be ready for your student’s arrival on the first day of the 2021-2022 school year.
Thankfully, we are using this “lemon” to make lemonade. We will get to update and modernize the school in the style of the Brenda Stephen’s Blended Learning Center.
We had an an amazing turn-around for this incident! We are very fortunate to have had the damage repaired so quickly, and we deeply appreciate the people in our CA community that helped, supported, and prayed for our school during this hardship.

Dear Parents,
On Tuesday afternoon, a fire suppression sprinkler pipe in the hallway ceiling to the JH burst and hallways, offices, chapel room, and many of the classrooms sustained water damage. The Blended Learning Center and gym did not receive any damage. The fire department responded and water was shut off quickly after they arrived. The remainder of the water was pushed out of the school on Tuesday and the professional cleaning crew came early Wednesday morning with the equipment to remove more water, drywall, dry the floors and remove the carpet in the chapel and administration offices. Due to the rapid response of the volunteers and Water Damage Restoration Crew a job that would normally take two months is estimated to take approximately two weeks or less. We are working closely with our insurance company. Learning will not be disrupted and remote learning will take place next week, Feb 22-26. As it stands, we are scheduled to open campus and resume in-person learning, Monday, March 1st.
Your teachers will continue to inform you of what is expected.
Please be in prayer as we sort through this process. We have been very fortunate the damage was not more severe and we have had such a rapid response to clean up. Our focus is creating a safe and habitable environment. We will continue to keep you updated.

Dear Parents,
The Water Damage Committee Team met this evening to discuss status of progress and also discuss how soon we can begin in-person learning. We are very thankful for such a rapid response by the clean up and sheet-rock installation crews. WE WILL OPEN CAMPUS TO RESUME IN-PERSON LEARNING - THURSDAY, February 25!!!
The crews have been working day and night and on the weekend to allow us to open our doors sooner rather than later. The safety of our students and staff and having a functioning building with electric, phones, and internet working properly was the key priority to opening the doors of our school. Also, safety standards of the CDC guidelines are still required for us to implement as a school.
We are so proud of our staff and teachers who are not only doing remote learning right now, but they will be having to "put back" their rooms in a very short period of time. Though we know the situation is difficult, our staff and teachers always give 100% to provide the best for our students and we are truly blessed to have them.
Thank you for your grace, prayers and understanding. After Covid-19 closed the school last spring, to last week’s unprecedented weather, to this flood and extended closure, we understand this can be an added frustration. However, we are also very blessed to have the clean-up and reconstruction being done so quickly in efforts to get us back to our facility as soon as possible. Now we were able to be back within days and avoid moving over 200 students and staff off-site to other locations that would have created logistical as well as liability complications.
Opening and closing times will remain the same as well as Club Warrior. Drop off and pick up will remain the same.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Cissy Haddox. Mrs. Haddox will communicate all of your questions or concerns to the administrative team via email as we transition getting phones back into place. chaddox@christacademywf.org
