Spotlight | Early Childhood

This is an example of how we implement our Learn + Play + Create model. The Early Childhood students went above all expectations in learning about travel. We are so proud of their hard work.

Learn + Play + Create

Early Childhood 3s and 4s recently concluded their travel unit with presentations about a place they would love to go to travel.

They modeled the Learn, Play, Create steps in their project.

In class, they learned:

  • What is travel?

  • What do you need to take to travel?

  • What do you when you get there?

They then played through art (color suitcase), pretend money and make-believe objects such as passports, clothing, hats, sunscreen etc.

They created their presentations on the place to which they would like to travel.

The Early Childhood teachers had their students record their presentations at home for the following reasons:

  • So parents could learn how to navigate Christ Academy’s learning platform (Schoology) and the value of technology in education.

  • Family involvement is crucial in young children’s education and learning.

  • After all the presentations were recorded, we viewed each child’s video at school, and they explained more about their suitcases and pictures.

  • It’s age appropriate, as it is very intimidating for 3 and 4 year old’s to present for the first time in-front of their peers, but were comfortable since they’d already presented at home and only had to expand on the topic.
