Meet Our New Head of School
Tyler Jacobus, or “Mr. J.” as he’s already known to many of our students, will be making his way from Indio, California to Wichita Falls in the next couple of weeks to step into the role as our new Head of School. You may have seen him around our campus over the past few months, even making an appearance at our Chocolate Soirée, the Senior Pep Rally, Senior Graduation, and on the news. He has been making trips to TX to meet with our CA staff + Board to help him hit the ground running when he officially begins this summer, a testament to the leader we believe he will be. Here’s a little about how the Lord led him to us at Christ Academy.
After serving in college ministry for numerous years, Mr. Jacobus began his educational career in the summer of 2009 as the Middle School Headmaster of King’s Schools in Palm Springs, CA. After serving in that position for two years, he assumed the role of K-8 Assistant Principal and continued to grow in his leadership responsibilities. While working at King’s schools, he had the opportunity to work for Apple, Inc. part-time and grew in his passion for technology. He later became an educational consultant for Apple and assisted in integrating Apple technology into schools throughout Southern California.
In 2014, he transitioned to Desert Christian Academy where he began as the Director of Admissions and Educational Technology. He faithfully served at DCA and was given the opportunity to lead multiple departments, which allowed him to gain a greater understanding of the many facets that go into running a Christian school. As the Director of Operations and Community Development, Tyler was part of the Executive Leadership Team. He enjoys the partnership that is created with families as he works alongside teachers to best meet the needs of students and provide a Christ-centered education. He has been a part of seeing God grow his school from 415 students to 665 students and increase the staff from 53 to 84.
Mr. Jacobus received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Murray State University in 2002. In 2018 Tyler received his Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in Faith Based Leadership from California Baptist University. He has been in Christian School Administration for 14 years.
Tyler has been married to his wife Missi for 21 years and they have 4 beautiful children. Emmi will be a sophomore at Arizona Christian University, Sophie & Lidia are 17 and entering the 12th grade. Caleb is 4 and will be entering our EC4 class. Tyler likes to play golf, watch college football, hike, and spend time with his family.
We hope you’ll join us in welcoming Tyler and his family to Christ Academy!
