Move Up Day 2024

Movin’ on up!

For one hour yesterday, our EC3 through Grade 5 students moved up to the next grade level to spend time with their next teacher and get a glimpse of what life will be like for them next year!

To start the hour-long event, Mr. J. came over the school intercom and played made the announcement to move up with an upbeat song about “Movin’ Up.” Grade 5 made the trek across campus to the Upper School to see what life is like as a jr. high student.

They were greeted by Mrs. Ross, our Upper School Division Head and Jr. High teacher, who showed them to their assigned locker for the day. Inside their locker, awaited a hand-written note from a current 6th grader telling them all about life in jr. high and the things they had to look forward to next year and a class schedule, giving them an idea of the jr. high class changes.

Notes to the next class were not exclusive to incoming jr. high students. All the way down to our current EC3 students moving up to EC4, students wrote notes to their friends about what was special in their class. Throughout the campus, each teacher had activities planned for classes that are specific to their grade level as a way to show them something to look forward to in the coming year. From STEM activities and robotics to games and science experiments, students were fully engaged in learning in a new way.

I had so much fun in 3rd grade! I can’t wait to do more robotics next year!
— Isabella, current grade 2 student

Our teachers always plan thoughtful, engaging lessons tailored specifically to meet the needs of each student in their class, and Move Up Day was no different. Our hope is that each student felt known and loved by their next teacher and the students in the grade above them. We are excited for all that God has for each one.

Have a student at Christ Academy? Be sure to ask them about their experience at Move Up Day!

I can’t believe they made this note just for me!
