Spotlight | Grade Five Science
RESEARCH + PRODUCE + PRESENT
Mrs. Thomas began the science lesson by having students read the Natural Cycles Chapter in the ACSI Purposeful Design Science textbook, a part of our grade five curricula. ACSI provides an academically rigorous textbook that is intentionally rooted in biblical truth to equip schools and educators with the tools to transform children's hearts and lives eternally.
Students further researched water, carbon-oxygen, and nitrogen cycles on YouTube. The concepts were reinforced by playing a game like jeopardy to review the three cycles. Students then took a test.
Students produced their natural-cycle dioramas in the steam lab using any materials available to them and science notes from their Science Interactive Binder. Mrs. Thomas encouraged the students to use the correct vocabulary when presenting and labeling. She gave the students little instruction on representing the cycle they chose, so we had several unique designs.
Lastly, students presented their chosen natural cycle to the class.
